Task 1 - Analysis of Large Scale Network Data Sources Acquire and study documentation on file formats of large scale network (e.g. Tranplan demographic dataset and/or Mn/DOT base map). Develop software tools to read an graphically display the large scale network o verify understanding of file formats. Deliverables: Demonstration and summary report (refer to Section 4.1.2 of Final Report) Task 2 - Analysis of DYNASMART-P Data Formats Install DYNASMART-P with sample datasets. Acquire and study documentation on DYNASMART-P input file formats and derive format specifications. Develop software tool to generate DYNASMART-P datasets and validate it using small test cases. Deliverables: Demonstration and summary report (summary, ER-diagram) Task 3 - GIS-based Network Management Software Work with transportation safety, security, and maintenance and construction professionals in Mn/DOT to understand sub-networks of interests. Develop software tool to allow transportation professionals to graphically specify sub-networks using a map of the transportation network. The software will produce input data files for traffic simulation tools, e.g. DYNASMART-P, for selected sub-network. Deliverables: Software (available upon request), user manual, summary report Task 4 - Network Re-Configuration Analysis Work with transportation safety and security professionals to understand the requirements for network re-configuration. Develop heuristic algorithms too produce re-configured network. Evaluate performance of the heuristics using traffic-simulation tools. Seek feedback from the technical advisory panel towards possible refinements of the heuristics. Deliverables: Enhanced GIS-based network management software (available upon request), summary report (refer to Section 2 of Final Report) Task 5 - Final Report Preparation Prepare final report draft, incorporate technical advisory panel comments into final report, prepare final report.
